Your name or any nicknames you have?
Where are you at in the world? Where will you be fishing this year?
I live in Utah. I’ll be fishing mostly in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Montana.
How long have you been guiding/fly fishing?
I have been fly fishing for about 6 months so I’m still very new.
What got you into fly fishing? When did you start?
I got into fly fishing from my boyfriend Tyler Christensen, also known as @thetugisthedrug. He has been into it for many years and got me hooked!
Why do you fly fish? What does it “do” for you?
I fly fish because it is fun and challenging and I’m constantly learning new things. It gives me something to look forward to and I get to spend time with Tyler.
If you own and use a Rod Vault, what do you like about you Rod Vault?
I actually just ordered a rod vault for Tyler as his Christmas present and we are excited to use it since we like to travel and it will make it a lot easier to jump to different spots.
As a woman guide/angler, you’re definitely in the minority. What made you decide to be a guide/angler?
At first, I did it to spend time with Tyler but now I do it because it’s exciting and there is so much to explore.
Has the fact you’re a female ever been an issue with a client or other angler (such as them hitting on you or maybe talking down to you?) If so how did you manage it/them?
Everyone I’ve been around has been nice and encouraging to me. I’ve realized I tend to get more likes based on the fact that I’m a girl and it not being about the awesome fish I catch which can be a little discouraging.
What is a piece of advice you want to give to other anglers or a tip/trick that has helped you grow as an angler?
A piece of advice I would give is to keep with it and don’t give up! There is so much to learn and you can’t catch fish if you aren’t fishing!
What is your favorite fly? (To tie, or catch fish on?)
My favorite fly is just a basic hopper. I love seeing the fish jump out of the water to eat it! Aggressive top water eats are by far the coolest!
Best catch of all time?
My best catch… this is hard for me since I’m still so new so every fish is still an awesome catch. I would have to say it is probably the bull trout I caught this summer. It was quite the fight and I had actually lost a lot of big fish that day after fishing hard from sun up till sun set. I remember my heart was beating so fast as Tyler was running over to net him as the sun was going down! A moment I will definitely never forget.
What’s your “Dream Trip”?
I really want to catch a Dolly Varden or Arctic Char!
